Roxey McGee Murder Receipt Tells of Miners Meeting Death

W D McGee of this city learns via telegram that his nephew Roxey McGee was shot at a miners meeting in Victor Idaho last Monday. Roxey had worked at Elkton mine with brothers Melvin and Jay. He recently lived on the Dixie ranch for C B Wade and left for Elkton after Thanksgiving. His parents reside in Clay County Missouri.

Pitched Battle in Colorado Danville Clash Between Troops and Miners

In Danville Colorado a two hundred deputized troops clashed with about 150 Cripple Creek miners. Fifteen miners were captured and six union miners were killed. General Bell led the assault capturing arms and ammunition as the miners fought entrenched in the hills. The action followed rumors of a free gold camp at Danville and a broader push to deport union members from the Tell District.
