Trouble With Yaquis Ends in Hermosillo Dispatch

Hermosillo dispatch says the Yaquis have surrendered to the two men charged with the murder of a ranch foreman at El Ren. The early morning report notes the feud has concluded with the arrests and transfer of custody pending further proceedings.

Civil Service Examinations For Carriers Held

Albert Bedell of Walla Walla with Ralph Howland of the local post office conducted the civil service examinations for local free delivery carriers at the courthouse this forenoon. Nine applications were filed but seven appeared, and the test completed before noon. Results will be sent to Washington D C and the lucky ones announced after the 15th.

Triple murder suspected in Hardin robbery tragedy

From Hardin, Missouri, comes word of a triple murder in the home of Mrs Belle Smith and her two children. Investigators say the family was found dead in the ruins after a robbery preceded the killings. Mrs Smith held $1000 from an insurance policy carried by her late husband. A hatchet found among the debris is the alleged weapon. Tramps are suspected.

California and Chicago clash at Marshall Field meet

Rain threatened as California and Chicago track teams opened at Marshall Field. Seventeen Sailors Drowned in Duluth Harbor Collision

In a harbor collision between the whaleback Wilson and steamer Hadley in Duluth Minnesota, 18 crew members of the Wilson perished when a hole opened in the vessel and she sank quickly. The Hadley was badly damaged but reached shore and was beached.

Collision On Sixteenth Street Trolley Line Injures Sixteen

A Philadelphia trolley car collided with another on the Sixteenth street line this morning. The crash hurled the second car from its rails and injured sixteen people, many of them women. Two of the injured are expected to die.
