Irrigation Plant Near Alicel Aims Beet Profit
G. W. Buckman near Alicel nearly completes a pumping plant to irrigate several hundred acres for sugar beets. An eight inch centrifugal pump with two twenty horsepower engines will deliver 1600 gallons per hour, raising water from the state ditch via a 0.75 mile flume. If successful, the system could boost land value and stabilize beet production across the Sand Ridge country, even in dry seasons.
