Railroads Press Livestock Shippers Progress on Tonnage Reform
A Livestock Association committee reports progress in negotiations with railroad companies toward abolishing the live stock tonnage system. The circular notes improved service, quicker car availability, and better delivery times across western markets, with eastern markets also reporting gains. The return passenger privilege for stockmen has been restored, and efforts continue to amend the interstate commerce act to ease shipper troubles. Readers are urged to contact congress and push for early action, with letters to key lawmakers requested.
