Robbery at Vaughn Bushnell Plant in Chicago

Two highwaymen attacked Bushnell, vice president of Vaughn Bushnell Manufacturing, with clubs near the plant in Chicago. He was badly injured, found lying in the street, and money intended for payroll was taken in the early morning assault.

City Jail Empty After Mass Prison Break

Three prisoners escaped yesterday afternoon from the city jail and five more fled during the night, leaving the jail empty. City Marshal M. J. Carney warned the city to repair or replace the jail to prevent further escapes. Escapees included PC. Murphy, Mat Murray, George Christie, Tom Sloan, Charles Wheeler, J. G. Warren, James Lamont, and H. Welch.

Fire Demolishes Standing Grain Near Hadley

Last evening a blaze swept about bis acres of standing grain near Hadley along the railroad track. The fire extended into an adjoining field and the ORO N train from Prescott passed the scene as stacks of grain were consumed.

Robbery and shooting near Portage in Puritan coal region

P F Campbell superintendent of Puritan Coal Mining Co. and a stable boy were stopped by three highwaymen on a public road one mile from Portage at 10 am. Campbell was fatally wounded in 26 places and the boy badly hurt while they were robbed of 3000 dollars intended for miner pay.
