Body of Braveth Steele Found in Big Crook
The body of Braveth Steele, a yang min lost in May while en route to Thunder Mountain to teach and work for the county, was found near the mouth of Ramey Creek. A miner from the Woerdenhoff mine reported the find to Warren Saturday after the discovery Thursday. The recovery ends the belief that Steele drowned while attempting to reach the creek. In a separate incident, George Vile, a half breed Nes Perce Indian, was arrested by Deputy U S Marshal Schatiner for introducing liquor on the reservation and is confined in the county jail after recent release from McNeil's Island prison for selling liquor to Indians.

Chinese boycott reaches Del Monte Milling company
In San Francisco on July 26 Chinese merchants served boycott notices on the Del Monte Milling company. The firm, a former large cereal exporter, was told to countermand all future shipments to China as Chinese agents here explained orders would be halted indefinitely. The Bel Monte Milling company also had flour and milled goods shipments to Chinese merchants and had standing orders with them, but officials confirmed countermanded orders for cereals. The Chinese say the boycott aims to press merchants who want to land here, and they denounce local officials for alleged interference.
