Truckportation plans expand Philadelphia deliveries
The article describes a new system called truckportation linking Philadelphia with nearby cities to speed one day deliveries. Pneumatic trucks, averaging 78 mph on routes, serve as feeders to trolley express services with plans for truckportation bureaus and extended lines reaching Reading and northern Pennsylvania. More than 40 communicants rode a three day trip, and weekly one day trips extend to Harrisburg and others, aiming for mass distribution and faster service than existing trucking or rail.

Truckportation Experiment Spurs Nationwide Interest
Congestion from rail delays prompts trial of self supporting truckportation to cut shipments. The plan, tested at a company and to be expanded to all branches, has stirred enthusiasm at service stations as trial deliveries reach a third of required volume. Traffic experts foresee motor trucks as future feeders to rail and trolley lines to ease the nation’s transportation problem.
