Rebuilding of historic Connell branch line under way

Reports from the Washington Territory area indicate the O R N branch line known as the Connell branch will be rebuilt and returned to service. The project follows the original route from Moscow Idaho to Connell with segments LaCrosse Wash tuena and Kahlotus involved. About sixteen miles remain dismantled between Connell and Kahlotus, and the line to Connell will restore the 256 mile Spokane to Connell corridor.

Chinaman Executed in San Quentin for Nephew Murder

Chew Lan Ong was executed this morning at San Quentin for murdering his 12 year old nephew in San Francisco after a quarrel in China over his brother’s estate. The punishment followed a long motive of revenge and was carried out as scheduled. Wilson Barrett Dead in London. Packing House Strike Opens With Requieled Fury

Chicago July 22 The stockyards strike reopened as strikers returned to work and found discrimination against union members. Dry Land Alfalfa and That Corporation Tax

T. C. Taylor disposed of about 1800 pounds of dry land alfalfa seed last spring. Seed sold in five to 110 pound lots to test on upland and semiarid soils from Heppner to Walla Walla. Seed reportedly grew vigorously and thrived in many areas, with some plants re-sprouting. Taylor notes the seed is acclimated to hazardous soil and moisture conditions and may prove hardier with dry farming. A mass irrigation meeting is planned at Ontario in Malheur county on August 8.
