The Interstate Commerce Commission on July 21 handed down a decision in the Pacific Coast furniture merchants case. It rules for merchants on shipments of wood mantles and metal beds, but sustains railroads on other listed articles. W. W. Montague of San Francisco led seventy two dealers. They argued railroad minimum weights for carload furniture were too high, claiming carriers charged for full car capacity even when not fillable.
