A midnight cyclone in Winnipeg kills four people and injures six as a four story brick wall at James and Croner streets collapses onto adjoining houses. The dead include KR White W Steinhoff and two sisters named Raley. The storm causes minor citywide damage and the affected building had been gutted by fire.
A minor earthquake reported in Portland at 2 10 am with stronger tremors felt in Augusta Waterville Lewiston Brunswick and Rock Island. A longer aftershock measured about 16 minutes shook Thomaston. experts attribute the event to rock fissures and subsurface movement two to three miles deep.

Rumors say a wheat warehouse will be erected this summer below the Walters mill to serve farmers north and west of town. Dave Nelson, John Hayden, and Louis Hayden, prominent grain growers, are said to back the project on the Roberts property opposite the mill, using the spur line to the railroad for access.
Last evening the jury in the Wright case failed to agree after a long deliberation. Some jurors were convinced of guilt in part, but no verdict of acquittal was returned. After years of planning, the Inland Irrigation Company announces the commencement of a major ditch project near Echo. Newport & Co. won the contract to excavate thirty miles with two main laterals, four feet deep and ten feet wide at the bottom, plus flume work across canyons and rocky points. Water will come from the north side of the Umatilla and run about ten miles before use, irrigating twelve mile flat lands near Echo and supporting ten thousand acres, much of it owned by the company. W. J. Furnish, president, says work starts immediately and aims for completion by January 15, 1906, with land to be watered this winter and crops planted for next year.
Sheriff Shutt filed forenoon complaints against all Hoppner saloons except the Palace Hotel bar for Sunday open shopping. Each was arraigned before Recorder Richardson and given until next Monday to plead. A Palace Bar complaint followed.
Roy Harrington began a suit today against Henry Wade seeking $80 for hay and grain allegedly taken without authority. The case alleges Wade improperly removed the goods from Harrington, asserting ownership and entitlement to the claim.
Four men died and several were seriously injured when lightning struck a telephone wire three miles from the Dominion Cartridge Company arsenal in Brownsburg Ontario this morning. The deceased are Steven Caruthers John Martin Thomas Chambers and Napoleon Lamarche.
