New York July 18 Joneah Harker a tuberculosis patient at Metropolitan Hospital on Blackwell's Island escaped a lingering death by leaping from the third story to the ground. He had been at the hospital over a year and believed he would die there. A fellow patient on a thin veranda saw him step on a chair and jump to the street below to end his suffering.
