Traders reported mixed shifts in prices with soy and corn rallying early while profits were reined in late. Demand appeared steadier as liberals receivables were seen to shrink imports and buyers absorbed offerings, yet the day closed with December corn futures off and oats nearby firming mildly.
July 7. Hors receipts 114, steady, prime 16.70 to 16.10, medium to choice 14.60 to 15.75, rough heavies 11.00 to 19.60. Cattle receipts 344, lower on steam and cows, prime 10.60 to 11.00, medium to choice 9.00 to 10.00, common to good 4.00 to 7.60, best cows and calves 7.16 to 8.00, calvers 7 to 14.
New York July coffee futures showed a firmer market on gains in Bunton futures and buying by Austrian importing interests for July notices. Volume rose for prompt and deferred months with September near 11.90 and December around 12.90, while close ranges varied and July at 12.78 and other months moving in narrow bands. Spin coffee remained dull and nominal.
