Fathers of the Republic and the right to change government
The passage argues that American government originated from a voluntary compact among the people, not a ruling class. It contends governments derive sanction from free consent, can be changed by constitutional amendment, and should do whatever the people want while ensuring they choose rightly. It cautions against stagnation and insists the ideal is a government that expresses and serves the people's will.
