Woodrow Wilson gained initial notice as a lawyer and Princeton president, rising to fame as a reformer. Born in Staunton Virginia December 28 1866 he abandoned Thomas and pursued a single home identity. He taught at Bryn Mawr and Wesleyan before returning to Princeton as president in 1902 resigning to govern in 1910. He married Helen Axson in 1885 and held degrees from multiple universities. His writing exposed political corruption and he moved from pen to platform through public speaking engagements in major cities.
Salem reports a state supply bidding day with Tacoma and Portland winning contracts totaling 65,408 dollars. Carstens Brothers bid for beef and mutton for six months was about one third cheaper than six months prior. Most low bids prevailed, except where quality mattered.
