Portland Cattle and Swine Market Report
In Portland on January 31 a liberal swine run totaled 762 head with prices topping at 8.16 and most good stock around 8.10. Light cattle are in demand though heavy lots are neglected, two loads from London reported. Grain fed steers ranged 7.00 to 7.65, hay fed 7.28 to 7.40, cows 6.79 to 6.25, bulls 4.50 to 5.25, calves varied. Mutton market steady with lambs up to 6.50, fancy ewes around 4.40, ordinary ewes 5.00. Wheat prices on track basis from 68c to 89c, oats 24 to 24.60 per ton, barley 24 to 25 per ton, flour prices with Willamette valley at 4.60 locally.
