Etter claimed the textile manufacturers trumped the charges and protested his innocence amid claims of police and employer manipulation.

Mrs. Brown, now in critical condition at a hospital, could only say they quarreled last night before the assault. He was about 25. she is younger by five years. they have one child.

Wood began an indeterminate sentence of three to fifteen years. Proceedings to annul the controversial marriage have begun, with the son admitting the marriage was arranged to save his father.
In Altoona Pennsylvania a milk dealer named John Wood and his wife were nearly burned when a pocket knife in trousers attached to a jacket ignited a match hidden in the pocket. Mrs Wood moved the trousers and sparks set fire to the garment and a nearby basket where the baby slept. Wood threw the burning clothes into a tub and burned his feet while trying to stomp it out.
