Union Gap Ditch Sold By Receiver For 1250
North Yakima Wash Jan 29 The receiver s sale of the canal and assets of the Union Gap Irrigated company to the Union Gap Water Users Association for 1250 was confirmed by the supreme court and the receiver discharged. This action closes the affairs of a company whose stockholders made riches selling 4000 acres of land with water rights though creditors with claims over 120000 cannot now collect a cent. Farmers formed an association to secure water for irrigation and bought the canal at a nominal figure. Its operation will cost three times what land contracts allow for maintenance, and within years over 100000 will be spent on permanent improvements. The water right is among the best in the Yakima valley.
