Three Runaway Horse Teams Terrify Pendleton Streets
Three runaway horse teams moved through Pendleton yesterday afternoon from the Telephone Livery stable. Charles and Mrs. Rattigan, both reportedly intoxicated, caused a sleigh run that ended with a crash and no serious injuries. The loose horses caused further chaos, breaking yokes and harnesses as they dashed up Alta street to Cottonwood, then to Walter and Main, crossing the bridge before being recaptured on a hill. A single cutter horse also bolted, but caused little damage.
