In Trinidad Colorado on January 23 four women and one man sustained laber wounds as troops charged a crowd believed headed to San Rafael hospital to rescue Mother Jones. Eight women and ten men were arrested amid bitter labor turmoil sparked by militia action in the coal strike zone.
A June 23 meeting in Oregon City debated the use of a $218,000 road fund over ten years. Members urged permanent hard surface construction over scattered gravel across 2200 miles. A committee including H. F. Cros and Jesse Hazel was formed to organize the new league.

Mayor Mitchel ordered police to exterminate New York gunmen. Within the hour police arrested gangster Max Minsky for the murder of rival Max Levine. Nathan Perlmutter aided the arrest and testified they were in a saloon when four gunmen opened fire. Perlmutter identified Waxey Gordon as another participant.
Washington Jan 24 Congress ordered a probe into strikes in the Colorado coal mines and the Michigan copper mine fields. The House Democrats backed the inquiry 149 to 17, to be conducted by the House Mines and Mining Committee led by Rep Foster. Hearings were expected in Denver Pueblo and perhaps Trinidad within two weeks. The Keating resolution was amended to address constitutional questions and mirror a Senate inquiry into the West Virginia strike.
January 23 Denver Charles Behrman, 40, arrested in the Colorado State House while attempting to enter Governor Ammon's office. Believed insane he asked Police Chief Nell to kill him at the station.

Four bandits boarded the Michigan Central Detroit Chicago flyer at 3 30 p m robbed passengers of 200 dollars in cash and jewelry then forced the engineer to stop and fled pursuing posses. They took seats as ordinary passengers and when the conductor asked for tickets they drew revolvers and had him surrender. All Pullman passengers were robbed.
Eastern Oregon State Hospital plans a rooftop 800000 gallon reservoir with electric pumping to store irrigation water. The system targets peak-load electricity rates, using surplus power during low-use hours to fill the reservoir for 87 acres around the hospital, hillside plantings, and a vineyard and nut trees. Labor will be done by hospital staff, with concrete work contracted, total cost under 700 dollars.
