Des Chutes Power Plant Plan Near Bend
The Des Chutes power project, filed by Intecor Development Co, seeks 16 000 cubic feet per second from the Des Chutes River about a mile south of the Columbia, diverting water via a flume to generate electricity. If approved, it could conflict with existing irrigation and power claims higher up the river as Bend area supplies are already claimed.

Conviction Upheld As Appeals Court Dismisses Error
The government has no right to appeal by writ of error or direct appeal from a criminal judgment in favor of the defendant. Dick was convicted of selling liquor on the reservation. On appeal the court held the reservation no longer Indian territory, allowing the liquor traffic to occur there. The case went to the supreme court with Attorney Fogg in Washington to argue. Tannehill sent a wire stating he believes the U.S. court will not reverse its own decision.
