In Seattle on January 10 Mrs Retta Doddridge the only woman on a manslaughter jury will sleep behind a screen in the same room as eleven men. A woman bailiff will sit on an adjoining couch. Judge Ronald ruled the screen does not split the jury and allowed privacy for the woman juror despite objections to separating jurors in a murder case.
Portland Jan 10 Preasiding Judge Gatens assigned the Wilde embezzlement case to Judge Kavanaugh. The trial begins Friday with a jury drawn to try the San Diego banker involved in looting the Oregon Savings and Trust bank. An attorney, targeted by an assault at Salem, says he will aid in Wilde's prosecution.
