January Circuit Court Opens Docket With Long List Of Cases
The January term of the circuit court convened at 10 o clock with many petty larceny to murder cases on the docket. Five weeks are expected for trial, some cases may be carried over. The old grand jury reported Saturday evening and a new jury began work this morning under District Attorney Phelps. Early cases included Citizens National Bank v Coppock which was dismissed after confessed judgment, Queen Insurance Co continued to next term, Jack Winnumshaft v Mark Butler postponed as Indians were not present, and State of Oregon v Frank J Ely slated for tomorrow. Bowlin v O R N Co for 15000 damages and Morse horse theft second trial next, Tracy or Arnold murder tentatively set for January 24. Final Grand Jury report delivered to Judge Bean detailing work and investigations by the body.

Four Williamsburg dock checkers get year in prison
Federal Judge Martin sentenced Thomas Kehoe Patrick Hennesay John Fr Boyle and Edward A Coyle formerly checkers for the sugar trust to one year on Blackwell's Island. They were convicted December 17 1909 for manipulating scales on the Williamsburg dock for importers interests. Oliver Spitzer, another co defendant, will be sentenced February 1. he awaits a hospital operation recovery.
