The last week of 1913 saw light liquidation as shippers stayed home for holidays, with mid December surplus cleared by killers. Best steers sold around 7.56 to 8.10, cows about 6.50, heifers 7.00, bulls 5.50 to 5.76, and calves 7.50 to 9.00. Hogs rose to around 8.06 with bulk near 7.90. Sheep and lamb values remained firm despite light receipts, with fancy lambs at 6.35. Overall, cattle, hogs, sheep and lambs showed steady to improving trends as the new year began.
