Jame Whealen a saloon man was arrested by United States postal authorities on charges of possessing property stolen from the mails in connection with the $49,000 gold robbery aboard the steamer Humbolt last summer en route to Seattle from Alaska. Ten thousand dollars worth of gold bars was recovered from Whealen's hiding place. Since the arrest of Henry and John Whasen, Margaret Smith and Elmer Smith in San Francisco, Whealen has been under surveillance. Smith is said to be Orville Cave, a member of a prominent Pendleton, Oregon family, with Margaret Smith from eastern Oregon. The Woodsons, released, also came from eastern Oregon.
