Death in deer hunt near Grangeville Idaho
Word came of the accidental death of H. D. Brown while deer hunting with his brother Sid and nephew John on the South Fork of the Clearwater about 15 miles from Grangeville. The rifle discharged while lifting over a log, the bullet entering the abdomen and exiting the back of the neck. Brown died about three hours later.

Two Men Steal Coal From Railcar Echoes Repeat Offense
N Keenan has again stolen coal from an Oregon Railroad and Navigation car and was brought to the county jail for a second time. M J Gleason pleaded guilty to the same offense and was brought up from Echo, both sentenced to 60 days. They sold stolen coal to Echo residents during the famine, with Keenan previously serving time a year ago. John McCourt investigated charges against two men suspected of robbing the Ripper store, but the state had no case and they were released.
