Hermiston Feb 25 special calls a meeting of voters from Hermiston Columbia and adjoining precincts to form a voters league. Signed by precinct committeemen of both parties it invites all voters to discuss local matters without party platform references to aid campaigns of 1914. The league aims to define Umatilla county issues and boost registration of men and women.
In Kansas City Kansas a dishwasher named George Crook won a small debt case awarding him 15 cents. The judge ruled Crook entitled to the 15 cents after a proprietor had with held 16 cents when he quit his job. The decision came after hearing substantial evidence.
Stone marble and granite shippers testified before the Interstate Commerce Commission in Washington protesting eastern freight rate hikes. Hearings continue March 2, 3, 4 and 5 covering hides leather syrup molasses truck farm products fish hay and grain.

Santa Monica February 28. Eddie Pullen overtakes Wishart in the final laps to win the Grand Prix driving a Mercer at an average speed near 82 mph. Wishart led early, with Glenn Martin in pursuit in a biplane hovering above the course at 1000 feet. About 100000 spectators watched as Tetzlaff and others faced tire troubles and rapid changes during the 40 lap race.
