Washington dispatches report Prince arrives in Annapolis as rain pours. Cadets at the Naval Academy perform vigorous drills in slick grounds while the royal party inspects the facilities. After a casual lunch with officers, the group departs as 21-gun salutes ring out.
A delegation including the German ambassador and Admiral von Tirpitz visited the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, with a 21 gun salute and inspection of the academy grounds and ships. Prince Henry planned a Western trip after a dinner in Washington, with stops on the Pennsylvania line at Columbus Cincinnati and Chattanooga.
A strong gale hit Cleveland, Ohio this morning, blowing into stores and tearing roofs. Signs and wires were scattered across the city, and contents of some shops were blown into the streets.
Portland report from Arlington Or notes R. R. Hankins was shot and killed by F. D. Sweeten in the post office. Both men had resided in the town for years. Witnesses say Hankins fired first. Sweeten awaits examination. The cause of the trouble is unknown.
Denver Cele Feb 28 From all indications the convention of the American Cattle Growers Association to be held in this city next week will be the largest and best represented gathering of its kind ever held in this country. Large delegations will attend from Texas Wyoming Montana the Dakotas Washington Nebraska Arizona and other western states. Key topics include the Land Leasing bill before congress and diseases and remedies in cattle with papers on feeding and fattening in arid regions.
New York February 28 Norbeck the giant Norwegian meets John Penning the Butcher Boy at Lenox Lyceum tonight in a bout claimed to decide the world championship. The fighters have trained long and strong interest runs high among Norwegian followers in the city.
