Special Meeting Arrangements At Presbyterian And Other Churches

Tragic Shooting Near Wirt River Bridge Claims Dick Pierce

Dick Pierce 13 badly wounded after attempting to escape custody near the Wirt River Bridge north of the Wagon Bridge. City marshal J. C. Garrett and deputies pursued him. Pierce was shot in the abdomen with a Colt revolver and taken to the hospital. He had been disarmed earlier and was described as a troublesome drifter drinking and quarrelsome in Helix and Adams.
