Hatcheries In Good Shape Amid Inland Empire Rail Plans

John M. Crawford inspected Walla Walla city hatchery and discussed plans for a new filter. The hatchery, with 60 000 fry per cycle and potential four to five hatches annually, can produce 2 000 000 to 3 000 000 fish yearly. Rainbow trout eggs from Iowa government hatchery were placed in troughs for incubation using compressed air turned by a table mechanism. The Hood River Sumpter Valley extension to Prineville is unlikely this year due to rails costs and labor, with a possible but delayed extension, not this year.
