Old Point Comfort Va Feb 22 Enthusiastically saluted by whistles and twenty one gun salvos from sixteen battleships the fleet returned from its circumnavigation of the globe the most remarkable cruise by any navy President Roosevelt and Secretary Newberry greeted aboard the Mayflower Admiral Sperry and officers were warmly commended for the unprecedented voyage as smoke was spotted near Cape Charles and the fleet entered Hampton Roads. The Mayflower reviewed the ships and the president and navy officials were welcomed aboard before the fleet proceeded to Washington and shore leave was arranged for the crews.
