Electric wreck near New York kills and injures many
At Woodlawn curve on the New York Central line a passenger train known as the White Plains Express derailed at 6 39 PM. Motorman Rogers and the electric motors bore the brunt of the crash with about 100 injured and many dead. Portland, Feb 11 A 2 year old girl, child of Mr and Mrs Frank Vache, died after an overturned lamp set the child ablaze. The mother Mrs Muchett was fatally burned while trying to save the child. The father rushed from his city office to fetch a physician but arrived too late.

KILLED AT PERRY Railroad Laborer Struck by Train
Perry Feb 18 Special A Zeiskig a railroad laborer was struck and instantly killed by a locomotive of the Pacific Coast Construction company on the G R and WN tracks near the city. He slept on a bridge and, hearing the engine, attempted to rise but fell in front of it and was cut in two. The body was taken to La Grande for an inquest tomorrow morning. The engine was pulling a work train and no blame attached to the company.

Steamer Valldiva Disaster Reports Loss of Crew
New York Feb 18 reports the steamer Valldiva arrived from Kihe sor and reported quarantine after a February 17 explosion of the donkey engine. Seven crew members were killed and three injured. An ambulance was sent to the pier for the wounded. The dead were all men. Ten members of the Salvation Army were lost in the Larchmont wreck.

Washington February 18. Senator Fulton of Oregon called up a bill creating a new federal district with headquarters at Baker City but it has no chance to pass this session. James Cummins aged 14 accidentally shot R C Alexander a young farmer near Touchet Washington. Alexander was seriously hurt but will recover.
