Round-Up Gun Club plans a big trap shoot this Sunday in Ort and will face Kellogg Idaho. Five high scores count for club standings, so all members participate while the club aims to win the championship trophy with Pendleton seen as a strong contender and broad support requested.
E L Cooper takes over half interest in the Temple Theatre from James K H Welsh and will manage the popular playhouse starting today. Mead retains his half share. Cooper will oversee film operations and pursue a daily vaudeville feature plan. Welch retires but plans to stay nearby Pendleton.
Halifax February 17 The Frederick Eighth may be held a week during Dermatorfe examination. Naval officers immigration officials and their women inspectors swarmed aboard at daybreak to begin the inspection with minute baggage and personal property examination. Women reporters were designated to search the women passages. cargo was strictly examined with lighters alongside the liner ready to transfer cargo ashore if needed. It is believed no contraband will be found due to tight US investigations in New York.

Baltimore Feb 17 An officer aboard the Mongelia states Britain captured the Deutschland and 400 German submarines. He claims the Deutschland was counted among a flotilla with seven other subs in Falmouth harbor. the captain and crew of the Deutschland are said to be imprisoned.
East Oregonian wires report the Sheldon resolution passed by the House. Regents are urged to approve action. A plan proposes establishing a Western or Eastern normal school with a site to be chosen by the state board of normal schools. The measure calls for a 0.25 mill tax and $125,000 for buildings, contingent on site selection away from Weston.

State law requires signatures equal to ten percent of the vote for supreme justice at the last election. 226 names were certified. Referendum seeks action at the next regular fall election on December 3 1917 or a special election to be called within 60 days of filing.
Washington February 17. All troops remaining on the border have been ordered home. The War Department redirects orders to General Foston Tit Includer. Border state units will be arranged for departure with details, shipped promptly and mustered out quickly.
Galveston February 17 Captain Maron of the schooner rage reported four submarines entered the Gulf of Mexico ready to begin action against the United States in event of war. The report remains unconfirmed in other quarters. Mason said he heard the details at Quantanamo Bay. It is understood the government has stretched a steel net at the Guantanamo Bay entrance.
Edwin Sharp a young student suffered a broken leg in a collision between his bicycle and the Overland auto of H M Warren on Cottonwood Street near Elk building. Warren said the boy darted into the street from behind another car. The doctor noted a large bone at the left leg broken about an inch and a half above the ankle. The boy was taken to Dr T M Henderton and then home.
