Oregon Short Line Union Pacific and Chicago and North Western advertise round trip and telegraph fare to Westbound travelers. General Passenger Agent in Portland invites inquiries and printed matter requests. Applications for grazing permits in the Wenaha National Forest due by February 15 1911. Salem Ore Feb 16 The ways and means committee approved state payroll support for two chaplains at the penitentiary and the state reform school. Each will be paid 3600 annually, one Catholic and one Protestant, with at least six hours weekly devoted to inmate spiritual welfare.

Salem Oregon February 16 Friends of the Oregon Naval Reserves told the ways and means committee they seek a 25000 appropriation for two years. They said no appropriation would be asked in the senate and fear of a referendum led to omitting Moncey from the record. The group aimed to avoid killing both bills and urged readiness over accidents.
Salem February 16 both houses adopted the Graves joint memorial urging Congress to raise pensions for old soldiers who are said to receive too small a tribute for their past services across the nation.

In Salem on February 16 a hare quorum failed Brownhill's bill to create a five member commission headed by the state Insurance commissioner to codify laws and oversee insurance regulation with expenses capped at 1500 for the 1913 session. The bill would have required annual reports on proposed acts and placed the governor in appointing authority. The measure drew 29 votes in favor.

The ad promises bigger earnings for card writers and clerks and invites inquiries any time.
