A Portland traveler, Will Gibeon, narrowly escaped death in a hotel fire at the State Hotel in Walla Walla on a cold Saturday night. A wardrobe near a stove caught fire. smoke filled the room and he woke, opened the door, and collapsed in the hallway. He regained consciousness after the alarm sounded and the blaze was extinguished. he lost several garments and 70 in paper money.

Walla Walla reports the death of Frank Kimball aged four years, a former musician in Le Grande and Pendleton. He was a son of the late William F. Kimball and married to Miss Daneline Hyde.
