A 50,000 strong crowd at Hi bio Park protested graft in government and a lack of confidence resolution failed. Police and troops halted rioters as parliament adjourned and lawmakers were smuggled out amid street clashes and attacks on pro-government outlets.
Senator Chamberlain was informed by Attorney General McReynolds that the dissolution suit against the Southern Pacific and the Central Pacific railroads will be brought without delay. A delegation from Salem Oregon is en route to ask that the proceedings be dismissed.
The rifle found beneath a trestle near the Utah-Apex mine is identified as the weapon Rafael Lopez took the night of November 26. Authorities believe Lopez escaped the mine after killing J. Douglas Hultzey and Tom Manderick, with little doubt remaining he evaded officers. The 30-80 Winchester was found with holster and cartridge belt by J. Hindbaugh and later identified by Mike Stefano.
Residents led by Louis Scholl accuse Federal Game official Lewis of failing to properly assess goose damage. A party inspecting fields found geese feeding on wheat near Echo, especially in Jacob Rhode’s farm, with thousands present and crops harmed. Continued on page three.
Thirty volunteers gathered at the federal building site to start a large tabernacle for union evangelistic services. Carpenters directed the frame work, roofing to advance by evening, with twenty more volunteers needed to finish by tomorrow night. Meals provided by Methodist and other church groups. George Rose to lead revival music as five churches unite for prayer meetings at the Methodist church.
John D Rockefeller acknowledged tax commissioners seeking about twelve million dollars in personal taxes. His secretary delivered a note: the tax return is not ready, more time is needed, and it will be mailed in due time. The note is signed by Rockefeller.
Aviators entering the round the world flight from the Panama Pacific exposition may pass over Russia if they meet conditions set by the Imperial Russian Aero club. Foreign fliers must notify before entry, name passengers, timing, and reason. must avoid fortifications and submit to Russian legal formalities upon landing.
Amity Oregon voters rejected the proposed $20,000 water system bond at a special election on Monday. An agreement set bond sales at 95, but voters favored bonding the city yet refused to sell at the agreed price.
Rev. B. F. Landis a Lutheran minister from Price's Fork Virginia went on trial at Floyd Virginia today charged under the Mann white slave law. Prosecutors say he took a neighbor's wife from Price's Fork to Bluefields West Virginia and registered at a hotel as brother and sister.
Tremors rocked Buffalo and Brooklyn early February causing buildings to shudder. In Binghamton a laborer, Rocco Ovesz, died when a landslide in an excavation toppled him. Syracuse and Little Falls also felt the quake as residents rushed into streets.
The Oregon Supreme Court ruled election contest cases are not appealable to the high court. It dismissed J. R. Landon’s appeal after he was ousted as Woodburn mayor by P. A. Livesley over citizenship. The court held the corrupt practices act assigns final decision to the circuit court.
Omaha Neb Feb 10 Harry C Hammond of Seattle is held on a charge of impersonating a government secret service man. He was arrested here at Seattle authorities request who complained he cashed a worthless $360 check there. C A Loring of Seattle a commercial traveler Mia Loring and their four children were with Hammond when arrested.

S. troops capturing Emile Garcia linked to a tunnel destruction that killed over 60.
County Judge J. W. Maloney weighs a case of a woman with six children believed to be a beggar. The woman claims a tragic fate en route to her father in Denver while officials label her an itinerant mendicant. Juvenile Officer Hailey holds custody during investigation as saloon visit prompts scrutiny.
In Johannisthal Germany on February 10 a monoplane and a biplane collided in midair. One aviator was killed and two were injured as unexpected air currents drove the aircraft together.
Bakersfield dispatch reports aviator Christofferson arrived from Ledro en route to San Diego. Engine trouble delays progress. resumption expected around two o clock.
D W Campbell named assistant general manager of Southern Pacific in Portland with oversight of territory from Portland to Oakland and Ogden. The appointment follows E E Calvin's resignation and San Francisco reorganization. T W Younger becomes motive power sup in Campbell's district and H V Platt heads the southern district based in Los Angeles.
Washington February 10. Senator Chamberlain is urged to press for a quarter of a million dollars in federal funds to improve the harbor at Bandon Oregon.
In London February 16 King George addressed parliament expressing serious anxiety over the Ulster home rule issue. He regretted that efforts to solve the Irish problem had failed and warned that without foresight and good judgment grave differences may result. He also spoke on Albania autonomy and Aegean Islands implications for Balkan peace and praised the safety at sea conference.
Copperfield saloon keepers sue Governor West with two actions asking a total of 4000 dollars for confiscation of wines and liquors. Colonel Lawson and Sergeant Walton named as militia officers are defendants in the suit filed from Baker, Oregon, on February 10. Wiegand seeks 1500 for liquor value and 3000 for loss of business and patronage. Stewart and Warner seek 1500 for liquor value and 2006 for loss of business.
Stockholm reports a rumor that King Gustaf may abdicate but no confirmation exists. Premier Staaf and his cabinet resign over a dispute on increasing Sweden military and naval expenditures with the king favoring the rise.
San Bernardino California February 14 To prove his sympathy with the feminist movement Mayor Joseph Catick invited the women of the city to visit his home any Tuesday morning and watch him do the family washing.
Norborne Berkeley states a two story brick block will rise this spring on the Berkeley corner at Alta Street Pendleton replacing the Horseshow restaurant. He says it may be three or four stories, fronting 25 feet by 100. Tearing down will begin as soon as spring opens and leases are sought.
