Pendleton Ingane Patient Killed in Salem Asylum
Hans Hansen, a young Swede from this city, was killed last Saturday morning after mutinying against guards at Salem asylum. Testimony at the inquest shows Hansen attacked Head Attendant Kane and Harrington and Wayne McCann, a new patient, strangled him and kicked him in the stomach. The coroner’s jury noted a delayed report of Hansen’s condition and noted the earlier restraint on him before transfer.
