D A Rankin oversees a 10 mile stretch from Marshall to Spokane with two trains and two locomotives. Contractors Martin Welch will trench through Cheney summit in a 3 to 4 mile cut 10 to 60 feet deep. Hundreds of men to be employed. Camp two miles east of Cheney with air compressor and Burrel drills. By May 1 an estimated 1000 to 4000 workers will be on railroad projects in Cheney area.
