Washington February 4. Secretary Ballinger will be represented in the congressional investigation by Attorney John Vortroen, a prominent Democratic lawyer of Tennessee, and Attorney Carl Baerh, formerly district attorney in Montana. Vortrean arrived and met the president, with War Secretary Dickinson escorting him. The two attorneys reviewed the situation with President Taft.

Wilmington Delaware February 4 Four gramichildren of Keekle Hackett a farmer were burned to death shortly after midnight trapped in the attic of their home between Camden and Wyoming The youngest victim was three and the oldest fifteen years old.
In Reno on February 4 two men and five dogs locate 2000 sheep tied and frozen near Donnelly Mountain. A story by a French sheep theater writer notes the event and arrival from that section.
Western delegation representatives Hayes of California and Humphreys of Washington testified on Naval Affairs that without protection the Pacific coast would be exposed to a hostile force.
