Galanea and San Buena Ventura are held by Insurrectos after Colonel Rabago's advance with 160 of 600 men. Four battles yield three insurrectionist wins. Rabago loses two rapid fire guns and four light pieces. Galanea deserted last night. Cason Grandes readies for a long siege as US Consul demands hearing for William Boykin, accused in smuggling ammunition.

Edward Mylius was convicted of criminal libel for alleging King George's marriage to Admiral Seymour's daughter in 1890. The trial in London was conducted largely in secret. Guthrie Oklahoma February 1 The light from a match used by Sheriff Robert Martin to light his cigar caused a flare that accompanied a fatal shot as he and a deputy tried to serve a writ of ejectment on ranchman Pfeffer.
Amarillo Texas February 1 Stanley Lake heavyweight wrestler of Nebraska died last night from injuries sustained in a wrestling match here Saturday night with Harry Mayes. The fighting wrestler had been hospitalized since the bout and succumbed to his injuries yesterday evening.
Salem Ore Feb 11 Special Seven bills were passed in the senate and the house today, the bill in each house failed. President Selling and Senator Abraham clashed over a motion to compel the governor to issue requisitions for fugitives from justice. Abraham argued his measures were for Oregon’s good while Selling labeled many actions political. Abraham was finally called to order after his defense.
Salem Oregon February measure to raise the Oregon supreme court from five to seven judges was introduced in the house by Representative Miller of Columbia county and a similar measure in the senate by Senator Joseph of Multnomah yesterday. The act provides emergency funding and delayed appointments until the 1914 election with governors appointing the two extra justices to serve until successors are elected. The court would be divided into three departments with the chief justice presiding, aimed at speeding costs and opinions while preserving a single case docket for formal argument.
Salem Ore Feb 1 A bill to strengthen the recall will be introduced in the senate by Joseph of Multnomah today The measure provides payment of hall rent and expenses for recall campaign meetings up to 10 per voting precinct It also regulates such meetings and designates an office of that character The time and place are set by three persons one chosen by the recall committee one by the officer sought to be recalled and the third by agreement or by election of attendees
New York, Feb. 1. John Mitchell, former United Mine Workers president, protests Columbus action that bars him from the Miners councils and excludes him from the national civic federation. He says he wired a protest and will weigh resigning his $5000 yearly federation job to keep miners membership. Columbus, Ohio, Feb. 1. Friends of Mitchell, facing possible expulsion for dual membership, expect him to resign from the federation.
