Charles Tapp a 49 year old harness racer trainer and driver was shot and killed at King Hill stock farm near Joseph Missouri by Edward Fairhurst an employee. Tapp attempted to eject Fairhurst after a quarrel with another worker when Fairhurst drew a revolver and fired. Tapp was well known across the region.
United States Marshal Merrifield departed for Moorhead Minnesota to bring George Frankhauser, the alleged Great Northern train robber recently arrested there, to Helena for trial. Judge Hunt issued a special writ of habeas corpus for Frankhauser.
