Massive prehistoric mastodon tooth unearthed in Kansas mine
In Cottonwood Falls Kansas December 29 a large tooth likely from a prehistoric mastodon was found by workers dredging a Diamond Creek trench near Eldale. The tooth weighs over three pounds measures a foot three inches around its base and stands three inches high with sharp flanges suggesting a carnivorous origin. Nearby a large kneecap shaped bone was also uncovered.
