Chicago December 26 Senator Hanna presented his grandson Dan Hanna Jr a check for 10000 dollars as a Christmas gift to welcome the newborn week old boy. The scene was described as full of pride with the grandfather presenting the gift to the infant who had just taken a sip of milk.
A Christmas house made of plateboard with turning candies for children caught fire at the Fowler residence on Christmas evening. Telegraphic communication with the East is open but threatened by winds from Portland to Pocatello with prevailing snow and sleet storms. Wires are down in Pendleton and La Grande, Spokane area reports cut lines and strong west winds up to 75 miles per hour, while telephonic service is crippled and trains affected.
The New York wheat market was very active today advancing a full cent from opening before easing. New York opened at 8 1.2 and declined to 87% at the close. Chicago opened 2% higher and closed 87%.
