Five census takers were assigned to Pendleton to conduct the count over 12 working days. Officials warned feasibility is doubtful, estimating only 4 minutes per person to interview residents, risking undercount without 15 enumerators.
Pondieton grade and high school teachers will receive a minimum salary increase of $100 for the 1920 school year after a board of directors resolution in School District No 1. No elementary teacher will earn less than $1100 and no high school teacher less than $1150.
Charles W. Brownfield aged 0 Pendleton resident for four years died last night at St Anthony's hospital from complications after surgery for acute appendicitis He left a widow two children a daughter Miew Gladyn and son Walter both 14 Surviving relatives include Mrs Guas Berezor of Vancouver WA and Mrs WW Know of Weston Born Quinley county CA he helped found Brownfield buildings Oregon Building and Loan Association and served as secretary of a district group Later years he worked in brokerage and insurance Funeral services will be held tomorrow at St Mary's Catholic Church with pallbearers HJ Taylor Fred Lantz Willan Rifenoh GH Raley W Maloney and Jor Blakeley.
Mrs. Sarah Tabor confessed that earlier claims of an overdose and a husband involvement in Maud Tabor’s death were false. Maud’s body was found in a trunk at the Tabor home, and Joseph Virgo, once an undertaker, was arrested in Chicago. The TABOR family traveled from Freeport, Illinois to California before their apprehension.

J A Denny said by officials to have confessed to the recent robbery of Alexander store, brought back from Seattle last night by Sheriff T C Taylor and is now in the county jail. Dennis was captured by Seattle police on telegraphic information from Chief Roberts. Three suits of clothes and six furs worth nearly 640 dollars were recovered. One suit found in Portland. police there let the man slip. Sheriff Taylor praised the man’s identity and noted he took the stolen money.
Salem dispatch reports Governor Creeth urged the State Fish and Game Commission to reinstate Hiologiet Finley. The letter asks that Finley be given full and independent control of the educational and biological department to improve the state’s management and outcomes.
Four hundred forty two ballots cast on the peace treaty in the East Oregonian referendum show a strong preference for ratification without reservations. Of 442 votes, 337 favored ratification with no concessions, seven supported Lodge reservations, and six opposed ratification in any form. Local judges and staff oversaw the count, with results wired to major parties.
