Petrified Forest Finds Awe Inspires Forshay Survey Team
The Emmett Idaho Index reports that last week Elmer Forshay and a party surveying the South Side ditch in Petrified Forest uncovered petrified wood specimens in a gulch near West Fruit Farm a half mile west of town. Pieces displayed opaline blue inklike surfaces red green and purple hues with black veins like polished onyx and ebony. One large sample resisted breaking even with a hammer showing dense grain and visible knots.
