Walter DeBarrow a 17 year old from St Paul who lost his legs in a Great Northern accident will visit Spokane for Christmas as guest of railroad magnate J J Hill. He offered to work on railroads, asking for a chance and received offers of artificial limbs education and a lifelong railway job. DeBarrow has been an orphan and has never known his parents.
Trenton N J January reports say Governor Wilson will delay cabinet selections for President-elect Wilson until about March 1. He plans talks with Bryan and other Democratic leaders within 24 hours and expects to see Palk Underwood and senators before New Year. He aims to consider all candidates and gather opinions before any final decision.
At a large meeting the Ima Tila County Fish and Game Association endorsed state board proposals to extend grouse and deer seasons from Sept 1 to Nov 1 and to shorten the duck season, cut duck limits, and restrict goose sizes for a limited period. Debate centered on female deer protection. most opposed removing it. A resolution praising the state board for work since the creation of the board was also adopted.
D W Page of Pasco dies in St Marys hospital after a hunting accident near Burbank. He was a longtime Pasco resident, retired farmer, and near his property is Page station on the SS P and C. He is survived by a wife and daughter. Burial planned in Puce on Sunday.
Vienna reports that Queen Olga of Greece plans to visit Mount Athos, breaking a fifteen hundred year old prohibition on women entering the sacred mountain. The proposed trip would take her to twenty-one monasteries eighty miles southeast of Salonika.
Salem Oregon December 21 three patients escaped from the asylum taking advantage of liberties. Milton Taylor and George White fled from the laundry and Thomas Homer from the farm. Taylor was recaptured near Macleay. Homer and White remain at large. Taylor is 45 from Wasco county. Homer is 64 from Polk county.
The Natal cruiser sails this afternoon from Portsmouth with the body of the late Whitduin Reid for America. Flags are lowered in tribute as the cortege passes Dorchester House, with a military salute at St James Park. The procession, seen by thousands with heads bared, proceeds to Victoria station before entraining to Portsmouth.

In Springfield on December 21, a fire alarm at Bowerman school halted a Christmas program when a candle ignited fake ornaments. As flames spread, Principal Nell Fitsparrick activated the drill and 400 children lined up and exited within two minutes. The auditorium was destroyed.

Police say Clyde Stratton, Margaret Johnson, Edward Hampden and spouses Frank Williams and Charles Duffy are in custody for a murder tied to the Logue case. The murdered jeweler Logue was tortured before death after opening a safe found empty and ransacked. A woman suspect’s confession is anticipated as police search Hampden and Stratton's apartments for evidence including a torn petticoat, burglary kit, diamonds, and a revolver matching the weapon tied to Logue’s shooting.
