Peach production prospects in Freewater valley rise sharply
An Ulldetrition from J C Bottorit’s ranch near Freewater reports 276 boxes from eleven Alberta peach trees six years old sold to Blalock Fruit Co at 65 cents per box. Trees 20 feet apart yield 108 trees per acre. at $10.25 per tree, potential per acre is about $1175. Results are presented as actual figures, not estimates. Also notes Conductor Jack O Conner improving after a depot accident in La Grande and brakeman Joe Bowlin still recovering from a broken ankle.

City council accepts resignation of marshal and names replacements
Last Thursday night the city council accepted J. C. Batra's resignation as marshal and appointed Ira B. McNuttela to marshal plus roles as cemetery sexton water superintendent and street commissioner at ten dollars per month. A defective fire in Wolfe hall was reported and the marshal was ordered to notify builders to repair the flue and increase fires until fixed.
