Crossings time limit debated by council and rail line
On December 20 1902 Dr C J Smith urged the council to reduce the O R & N crossing blocking time at the depot from 20 minutes to five. He spoke for the school board noting danger and delays to hundreds of school children four crossings daily. He proposed closing street entrances on the school side during train arrivals to reduce risk and tardiness.
