Watermelons for Christmas near Bolles Junction

The Waitsburg Times reports Milt Denny, three miles west of town near Bolles Junction, sent a ripe watermelon to his office on December 11. He and friends said the melon, picked that day, was firm and sweet and unprotected from weather. Vines were killed by frosts but no freeze yet.
