Williamsburg Bridge Opens as World’s Largest Suspension
New York reports the Williamsburg Bridge is complete after eight years and 20 million dollars. The 7200 foot span features a 1600 foot main span, 118 foot width, and 353 foot tower heights with two roadway drives and multiple transit tracks. Eighty deaths mar the opening day as ships and boats gather on the East River near the Brooklyn navy yard.
