A proposed state banking law creates an Office of State Bank Examiner with a $2400 annual salary and a four year term. The plan, supported by Governor Treasurer and Secretary of State, would require stock ownership, bonding, and annual reports, while many taxpayers oppose it in favor of a state examiner of accounts.
In Socaramento California on December 16 a convention of sportsmen and game protectors met to push for united action and new legislation in the forthcoming session. Attendees included several fish and game commissioners and Lt. Gov Alden Anderson noted the lax enforcement has caused a serious decline in fish and game. Resolutions urged absolute enforcement of the laws.
Tampico reports the Mexican Central has tested oil burning engines between Rio and Cardenon and plans to replace coal locomotives. Experts claim oil can cut coal use by 30 to 40 percent, improving the company’s finances next year amid costly and scarce local coal.

A 5000 foot concrete walk will link the depot to adjacent paths, 10000 cubic yards of dirt are to be moved from Alder to Rowe streets, and brickwork is to finish within ten days with ornamental work to begin if weather allows.
